| Abstract | Food taboos among pregnant women are still influenced by local culture and community beliefs. Inappropriate food restrictions may lead to inadequate nutritional intake, increasing the risk of health problems for both mother and fetus. Health education using leaflets based on local wisdom can be used to improve pregnant women’s knowledge and attitudes regarding nutritional fulfillment during pregnancy. This study aimed to determine the effect of local wisdom-based leaflet education on the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding food taboos in Ujung Maligas Village, Huta Bayu Raja District, Simalungun Regency in 2026. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 18 pregnant women selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires before and after the educational intervention and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed an improvement in the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). It can be concluded that education using local wisdom-based leaflets is effective in improving pregnant women’s knowledge and attitudes regarding food taboos during pregnancy. | 1 |
