| Abstract | Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a disorder caused by compression of the median nerve within the carpal tunnel and commonly occurs among workers performing repetitive hand movements. Weaving workers are at risk of developing CTS due to continuous repetitive activities. This study aimed to determine the association between sex, years of service, and repetitive movements with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) complaints among weaving workers at Galeri Ulos Sianipar, Medan Denai District, Medan City, in 2026. This analytical observational study employed a cross-sectional design. The population and sample consisted of 35 weaving workers selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and physical examinations, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that 71.4% of respondents experienced CTS complaints. There was no significant association between sex and CTS complaints (p = 0.344), whereas years of service (p = 0.000) and repetitive movements (p = 0.000) were significantly associated with CTS complaints. In conclusion, years of service and repetitive movements were significantly associated with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), while sex was not associated. Workers are encouraged to apply ergonomic principles, perform regular stretching exercises, and take adequate rest breaks to reduce the risk of CTS. | 1 |
