| Abstract | Sewing activities require continuous, high levels of close-up visual focus and concentration. Unergonomic work environments, such as poor lighting and long working hours, pose a high risk of eye fatigue. This study had to analyzed the relationship between lighting intensity, age, and working duration and eye fatigue complaints among tailors at Kabanjahe Market, Kabanjahe District, 2026. This study used a quantitative, observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The population and sample size were 47 tailors selected through total sampling. Lighting intensity was measured using a Lux Meter, while eye fatigue complaints were assessed using the Visual Fatigue Index (VFI) questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square statistical test. The chi-square test showed a significant relationship between lighting intensity and complaints of eye fatigue (p-value = 0.001) and between working hours and complaints of eye fatigue (p-value = 0.001). There was no significant relationship between age and complaints of eye fatigue (p-value = 0.745). This study concluded that there is a relationship between lighting intensity and working hours and complaints of eye fatigue. However, there is no relationship between age and complaints of eye fatigue. Workers and business owners are advised to add local lighting at sewing tables and to engage in regular eye relaxation while working. | 1 |
