| Abstract | Fishermen are at high risk of experiencing Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) due to heavy physical activities and non-ergonomic working postures. This study is aimed to determine the relationship between working period and work posture with MSD complaints among fishermen in Sei Bilah Timur Village, Langkat Regency, in 2026. This study employed an analytical quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. A total of 50 fishermen were selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire and the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) worksheet and were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the most respondents had a short working period >5 years experience (54.0%), poor work posture (60.0%), and experienced MSD complaints (64.0%). The Chi-Square test indicated a significant relationship between working period and MSD complaints (p = 0.028) and between work posture and MSD complaints (p = 0.022). It can be concluded that work period and work posture are significantly associated with MSD complaints among fishermen in Sei Bilah Timur Village, Langkat Regency. Therefore, fishermen are encouraged to apply ergonomic principles during work, perform regular stretching exercises, and take adequate rest breaks to reduce muscle strain. Relevant institutions are expected to provide ergonomic education, appropriate work equipment, and regular health examinations, while future researchers are encouraged to conduct longitudinal studies with larger sample sizes and consider potential confounding variables to obtain more comprehensive findings.
