| Abstract | Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage the body's cell components if they are not neutralized by antioxidants. One potential source of natural antioxidants that can be developed is the leaves of chinese petai (Leucaena leucocephala) because this plant is known to contain various secondary metabolites, such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, and steroids, which act as antioxidants. This research aimed to formulate ethanol extract of chinese petai leaves into a solid bath soap preparation and to determine its antioxidant activity based on the IC50 value. The research was carried out experimentally through stages of making simplicia, extraction with 96% ethanol, phytochemical screening, formulation of solid bath soap with varying extract concentrations, evaluation of the physical quality of the preparations, and testing antioxidant activity using the DPPH method with UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The ethanol extract of Chinese petai leaves was successfully formulated into solid bath soap and met the set physical evaluation parameters. The antioxidant activity test results showed that the IC50 values of solid bath soap formulations 1, 2, and 3 were 45.7689 ppm, 45.6683 ppm, and 43.7141 ppm. The conclusion showed that ethanol extract of chinese petai leaves can be formulated into solid bath soap and pass physical evaluation tests, and the ethanol extract of chinese petai leaves has the potential to be developed as an active antioxidant ingredient for solid bath soap with very strong antioxidant activity. The suggestion from this study showed that there needs to be the development of other preparations from ethanol extracts of chinese petai leaves as well as a wider range of concentrations to see the relationship between extract concentration variations and the antioxidant activity of the preparations. | 1 |
