| Abstract | Red andong leaves (Cordyline fruticosa (L.) A. Chev.) contain secondary metabolites with potential antibacterial properties, making them suitable for use as active ingredients in deodorant spray formulations. This study aimed to formulate ethyl acetate extract of red andong leaves into a deodorant spray and to determine its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The study was conducted experimentally by formulating the ethyl acetate extract of red andong leaves at concentrations of 5% (F1), 10% (F2), and 15% (F3). The resulting formulations were evaluated for organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, drying time, clarity, viscosity, and irritation. Antibacterial activity was tested using the disk diffusion method and statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s HSD test. The results showed that all formulations met the physical evaluation requirements for the product. The average inhibition zone diameters obtained were 6.82 mm (F1), 9.37 mm (F2), 12.12 mm (F3), and 17.80 mm (positive control), respectively. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences among the treatment groups (p < 0.05). Based on the study results, it can be concluded that the ethyl acetate extract of red andong leaves can be formulated into a deodorant spray and exhibits antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, with formula F3 (15%) being the most effective. Further research is recommended to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC), to test the stability of the formulation during storage, and to identify the active compounds and their antibacterial mechanisms against Staphylococcus aureus.
