| Abstract | The completeness of supporting data in medical records was one of the important factors influencing the accuracy of the main diagnosis coding. In cases of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), , incomplete supporting data in the medical records of COPD patients were still found, thus requiring further research on its effect on the accuracy of the main diagnosis coding. This study aimed to determine the effect of supporting data completeness on the accuracy of the main diagnosis coding of COPD in inpatients at RSU Haji Medan in 2026. This study used a quantitative design with an analytical approach. The population consisted of all medical record files of COPD inpatients at RSU Haji Medan, and the samples were selected using sampling techniques based on research criteria. Data were collected through observation using a checklist form to assess the completeness of supporting data and the accuracy of diagnosis coding based on ICD-10. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of supporting data completeness on the accuracy of the main diagnosis coding of COPD in inpatients at RSU Haji Medan, where the chi-square test indicated a significance value (p = 0.001 < 0.05), meaning that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It was concluded that the completeness of supporting data significantly affected the accuracy of the main diagnosis coding of COPD, indicating that more complete supporting data resulted in higher coding accuracy.
