| Abstract | Pumpkin seeds (Cucurbita moschata) contain alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids, which possess antibacterial properties. This study is aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of serum formulations containing pumpkin seed ethanol extract against Propionibacterium acnes at concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20%. An experimental method was employed, involving the testing of parameters required for serum evaluation. Evaluations included organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, spreadability tests, adhesiveness tests, and viscosity tests. The results indicated that the serum formulations containing pumpkin seed ethanol extract at concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% met the required standards. Antibacterial testing showed that the serum formulation inhibited the growth of Propionibacterium acnes; the 20% concentration demonstrated strong activity, exhibiting the largest average inhibition zone diameter (17.85 mm) compared to the other concentrations. | 1 |
