| Abstract | Background: Tuberose flowers (Polianthes tuberosa L.) contain an essential oil with a strong, distinctive floral scent, offering potential as a natural fragrance ingredient in cosmetic products. Objective: This study aimed to determine the characteristics of tuberose essential oil and the effectiveness of carrageenan-based perfume stick formulations in delivering fragrance, as well as to identify the most effective essential oil concentration among the tested levels (10%, 20%, and 30%). Methods: An experimental method was employed. The research stages included essential oil isolation via water distillation, physicochemical characterization of the oil, formulation of carrageenan-based perfume sticks, and physical evaluation of the products. Evaluations covered organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, storage stability (at cold, room, and warm temperatures), skin irritation, fragrance longevity, and hedonic (preference) testing. Results: The study characterized the tuberose essential oil based on specific parameters (specific gravity, viscosity, acid value, and moisture content). All perfume stick formulas (F1 10%, F2 20%, and F3 30%) proved to be homogeneous and stable across various storage temperatures; they exhibited a pH compatible with physiological skin pH (4.5–7.0) and caused no skin irritation in volunteers. Tests on fragrance longevity and hedonic preference revealed that F3 (30%) demonstrated the longest-lasting scent and the highest preference score compared to F1 (10%) and F2 (20%). | 1 |
