| Abstract | Red ginger (Zingiber officinale var rubrum) is a medicinal plant containing secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins and steroids which have potential antioxidant properties. However, red ginger is still predominantly consumed as decoction or traditional herbal medicine Therefore, the development of a more practical dosage form, such as a lozenge is needed This study aimed to formulate lozenges containing ethanolic extract of red ginger, evaluate their physical quality and determine their antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. This experimental study included the preparation and characterization of simplicia, extraction by maceration using 96% ethanol phytochemical screening, formulation of lozenges with extract concentrations of 20% (FI), 25% (F2) and 30% (F3), granule evaluation, tablet quality evaluation and antioxidant activity testing using the DPPH method with a UV-Visible spectrophotometer The results showed that all formulations met the required evaluation parameters. The data were analyzed descriptively using mean and standard deviation. | 1 |
