| Abstract | Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs), known as gotrak in Indonesia, are a major occupational health problem among healthcare workers and are closely related to ergonomic hazards. This study aimed to analyze ergonomic hazards, WMSD risk levels, the relationship between both variables, and their control implications among employees of Silau Laut Community Health Center, Asahan Regency. A mixed method sequential explanatory design was used. The quantitative phase employed a cross-sectional approach involving 36 employees using the WMSD complaint survey in Annex B and the office ergonomic hazard checklist in Annex F of SNI 9011:2021. Data were analyzed descriptively, with Chi-Square and binary logistic regression, and were further explored through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis. Most employees were in the ergonomic hazard category requiring further observation (80.55%), 16.67% were hazardous, and 2.78% were safe. WMSD complaints were mainly reported in the upper back, lower back, and neck. Ergonomic hazard category was significantly associated with WMSD risk level (p < 0.05), whereas age, length of service, and job category were not significantly associated. Employees in the hazardous ergonomic category had a 27-fold higher likelihood of moderate-to-high WMSD risk than those in the safe category (OR=27.00; 95% CI: 2.377–306.66). Interviews revealed non-ergonomic postures, prolonged sitting, inadequate chairs and desks, and limited ergonomics policy support. Ergonomic control through workstation improvement, routine stretching, education, and stronger occupational health and safety programs is needed. | 1 |
