| Abstract | This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of hair tonic containing ethanol extract of Tagetes erecta L. leaves against Staphylococcus aureus and identify the most effective formula. This experimental study used 96% ethanol extract formulated into hair tonic at concentrations of 4%, 6%, and 8%. Antibacterial activity was tested using the well diffusion method. The results showed mean inhibition zones of 9.03 mm, 9.60 mm, and 10.80 mm for Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3, respectively. The positive control showed an inhibition zone of 12.13 mm, while the negative control showed no inhibition. One-Way ANOVA showed a significant difference among the groups (p<0.05). Tukey’s test showed that Formula 3 was not significantly different from the positive control. In conclusion, hair tonic containing ethanol extract of Tagetes erecta L. leaves has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, with Formula 3 (8%) showing the highest effectiveness. | 1 |
