Abstract Sewing activities involve repetitive hand and wrist movements performed over extended periods, often accompanied by non-ergonomic working postures. These occupational conditions increase the risk of median nerve compression, which may lead to symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). This study aimed to examine the relationship between working duration and body posture and complaints of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among tailors in Marindal I Village, Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency, in 2026. This study employed a quantitative analytical design using a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all tailors in Marindal I Village, with a total of 32 respondents selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews and direct observations using respondents' characteristic questionnaires, a work posture assessment instrument, and a Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) symptom assessment form. The data were analyzed using univariate analysis and the Chi-square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. After the findings the univariate analysis revealed that the majority of respondents worked longer than the recommended working hours and adopted high-risk working postures. The bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test demonstrated a statistically significant association between working duration and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) complaints (p-value < 0.05). A significant relationship was also identified between working posture and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) complaints (p-value < 0.05). This study colcluded that prolonged working duration and non-ergonomic body posture were significantly associated with an increased prevalence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) complaints among tailors. Therefore, it is recommended that tailors perform regular hand and wrist stretching exercises during work breaks to reduce muscle tension and minimize the risk of developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS).
