| Abstract | Hypertension is a chronic disease that requires long-term therapeutic adherence. Non-adherence to medication in hypertensive patients is often caused by a lack of understanding regarding dosage instructions, limited information, and concerns about side effects. Medication counseling by pharmaceutical personnel plays a crucial role in enhancing patient knowledge and adherence. This study aimed to determine the implementation of medication counseling services, medication adherence levels before and after counseling interventions, and the relationship between medication counseling and medication adherence levels among hypertensive patients at Namu Ukur Public Health Center in 2026. This study utilized a quantitative design with a quasi-experimental approach, employing a purposive sampling technique with Slovin's formula to obtain 37 respondents. Adherence levels were measured using the 8-Item Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire before and after counseling. The results showed that prior to counseling, no patients demonstrated high adherence (0%), 51.4% exhibited moderate adherence, and 48.6% showed low adherence. Following medication counseling, high adherence significantly increased to 67.6%, moderate adherence reached 32.4%, and low adherence dropped to 0%. The Independent Sample T-Test revealed a significant difference in mean adherence scores between the counseling group (6.85) and the control group (4.95) with a p-value = 0.003 (p < 0.05). Correlation analysis indicated a significant relationship between medication counseling services and medication adherence levels (p = 0.001, r = 0.514). In conclusion, medication counseling provided by pharmaceutical personnel has a positive influence on increasing adherence among hypertensive patients in consuming antihypertensive medications. The result of this study sugested that society and Namu ukur Helt center, improve The comunity service to prevent those who have Hypertension and improve Hypertension drug taking motivation at Namu ukur Healt Center. | 1 |
