| Abstract | Lango leaves (Dimocarpus longan L.) contain secondary metabolites with antibacterial potential. This study aimed to evaluate the physical quality and antibacterial effectiveness of a gel preparation made from ethanol extract of longan leaves against the acne-causing bacteria Cutibacterium acnes. The extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol and formulated into gel preparations at concentrations of 12.5%, 25%, and 37.5%. The evaluation included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, irritation test, and antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method. The results showed that all formulas met the physical quality requirements for gel preparations and did not cause irritation. The average diameters of the inhibition zones were 14.52 mm, 19.67 mm, and 24.28 mm, respectively, while the negative control was 0.00 mm and the positive control was 25.41 mm. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the treatment groups (p<0.05). A concentration of 37.5% was the most effective in inhibiting the growth of Cutibacterium acnes. Therefore, longan leaf ethanol extract gel has potential as a topical antibacterial alternative for acne.
