Angga Nugraha Sanjaya, S.Farm., M.Farm) Red dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus polyrhizus) is an agricultural waste product containing betacyanin pigments and antioxidant compounds, making it potentially useful as a natural dye in cosmetic products. This study is aimed to formulate an ethanol extract of red dragon fruit peel into a lipstick, evaluate the product's physical stability, determine its antioxidant activity, and assess its safety through an irritation test. This study was conducted experimentally by extracting red dragon fruit peel using 70% ethanol through a maceration method. The extract was then formulated into lipstick at various concentrations: 5%, 10%, and 15%. Further evaluation included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, storage stability, irritation tests and antioxidant activity tests using the DPPH method. The results showed that the ethanol extract of red dragon fruit peel can be formulated into a lipstick with good physical characteristics, is stable during storage, is safe to use based on the irritation test and has potential antioxidant activity. Variations in extract concentration affect the color intensity and quality of the lipstick. | 1 |
