| Abstract | Electronic Medical Records (EMR) are part of the digital transformation in healthcare, aiming to improve service efficiency, quality of care, and accessibility of patient information. However, EMR implementation also presents challenges in maintaining patient data security, particularly in terms of confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA). This study aimed to analyze patient data security in the implementation of EMR at Advent Hospital Medan based on the CIA principles.This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The participants consisted of 10 informants, including the Head of the Medical Records Unit, IT staff, and EMR users, who were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.The results showed that the confidentiality aspect had been implemented through individual login accounts and role-based access control., including staff forgetting to log out, active accounts during shift changes, and a history of cyberattacks. The integrity aspect was supported by an audit trail feature, but problems such as duplicate records, human error, patient misidentification, and unsaved data due to network or server disruptions were still found. The availability aspect had not been fully optimized because of frequent server downtime, slow system loading, and unstable network connections, requiring the hospital to temporarily use paper-based medical records as a backup during system disruptions.In conclusion, the implementation of EMR at Advent Hospital Medan has improved service efficiency and facilitated access to patient information. However, improvements in system security, information technology infrastructure, and the competence and compliance of human resources are still needed to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of patient data. | 1 |
